The Importance of Marketing

Who would you rather bet your money on, a company that has a great product but a horrible marketing plan or a company with an average product but with a great marketing plan? If you know anything about business, you’d choose the second company. Why? The answer is because in order to succeed in business, you need to be good at marketing your product. Whether you’re a salesperson selling knives (read Vector Marketing scam) or an online business owner, if you can’t get customers in front of you, you’re going to have a hard time making money.

If you ask 100 people whether or not they can make better tasting burgers than McDonald’s, chances are, most of them will say they can. So how come McDonald’s makes billions of dollars while the millions of better burger makes make nothing? It’s because we all know of McDonald’s. No one knows about your uncle Joe’s juicy burgers. It’s not about quality, it’s about visibility. Of course, once you have a huge market, you’ll want to make sure your quality is high enough to retain those customers and make them want to come back to you.

If your business is struggling, work on the quality of your product or service but make sure you spend some of your resources to put your company name or product in front of as many people as you can. That’s where the money is.
